LEONARDO DA VINCI: MAN / ARTIST / GENIUS

This is an educational exhibition of unequaled fascination. It combines made-to-scale replicas of all da Vinci's masterpiece paintings together with films of da Vinci's life, an audio video guide system and recorded music composed by da Vinci and others.

The exhibition is a first-of-its-kind chronological presentation and comparison of all of da Vinci's paintings in their original size. The fascination of the digital replications is seen both in the reconstruction of the paintings to their original state and in learning about their interesting journeys through the last 550 years of history.

Looking at the scarce number of da Vinci paintings one would not describe him first and foremost as a painter. His drawings comprise about 15,000 sketches, while only 23 of his paintings have been conserved. Of those 23, proof has not surfaced that attributes all of them to da Vinci. Nevertheless, Leonardo’s paintings figure among the most famous paintings in the world: The Last Supper, Ginevra de’ Benci and the Mona Lisa. Even in his time, some of his paintings were real attractions. He brought new inspiration to the whole world of painting and many artists copied his works. Since Leonardo also carried out research in other fields of interest, combining the results of his research led him to achieve ground-breaking successes, as with perspective, which became important in his painting.
